
Volleyball Heads to UConn for Weekend Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball returns to New England for its final weekend of the non-conference schedule as the Bears will make the trip to UConn for three games.
Play begins on Friday (Sept. 19) against the host Huskies at 6 p.m. The Bears will continue the weekend against Sacred Heart on Saturday (Sept. 20) at 1 p.m. and will finish up the weekend against Marist on Sunday (Sept. 21) at 12 p.m. All three games will be streamed on UConn+.

FIRST SERVE
- Brown is coming off a weekend where the Bears earned a four-set win over UCF to close out play in the Knights Invitational. Jessie Golden was named to the All-Tournament Team.
- Mariia Sidorova leads the team with 3.19 kills per set. Sophia Wolfson is hitting a team-best .344 and has 2.67 kills per set.
- The offense runs through Julia Kakkis, who is averaging 9.10 assists per set.
- On defense, Golden is averaging 4.48 digs per set and at the net, Wolfson is leading the way at 0.95 digs per set
- UConn is 8-1 overall and is on a two-game winning streak. The Huskies are 4-0 on their home court.
- Emma Werkmeister leads the team with 3.61 kills per set. Doga Kutlu is averaging 8.92 assists per set.
- Sacred Heart is 2-7 on the season but is coming off a 3-1 win over NJIT in their last match of last weekend.
- Ryleigh Short leads the Pioneers with 3.15 kills per set. As a team, Sacred Heart is hitting just .149 on the season.
- Marist is 1-8 on the year and has lost four-straight matches, all in three sets. The last win for Marist was a 3-0 win over UT Martin on Sept. 6.
- The Red Foxes are hitting just .118 on the season and allowing opponents to hit .334. Sara Dasic leads the team with 2.78 kills per set.
