Gus Rodriguez Earns 2025 U.S. Senior National Team Roster Spot

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - With the 2025 World Rowing Championships fast approaching, the Brown men's crew program will once again be represented on the world stage as Gus Rodriguez '22 prepares to help Team USA pursue gold in multiple events.
Rodriguez, who has built an impressive international racing resume, was selected to row with the Men's Four and Men's Eight crews in Shanghai, China from September 21-28. Gus returns to the world stage as a veteran for Team USA, having earned a silver medal with the Men's Eight at the 2021 Under 23 World Championships in Račice, Czech Republic and competed with the Men's Four without coxswain at the 2022 World Rowing Championships in Račice, Czech Republic. Rodriguez was also named an alternate for Team USA at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
This will mark the first time that a member of the Brown men's crew program races with a Men's Eight crew at the World Rowing Championships since 2009, when Steven Van Knotsenburg '08 helped Canada earn a silver medal in Poznań, Poland. In addition, this will be only the second time this century that a member of the Brown men's crew program races with the Men's Eight at the World Rowing Championships, with Erik Winters '02 being the last to do so in 2001. Winters helped the U.S. take home a fourth place finish in the Grand Final that year in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Rodriguez, who was named U.S. Rowing U23 Co-Athlete of the Year in 2021 and an IRCA First Team All-American in 2022, will hit the water with an opportunity to further add to one of the most robust legacies in the modern history of Brown men's crew.
