Volleyball Takes Down UCF in Four Sets

ORLANDO, Fla. – Brown volleyball took down UCF to close out the weekend in Orlando, beating the Knights in four sets on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 14).

Brown (3-3) won the match 25-20, 32-30, 17-25 and 25-16, with Mariia Sidorova and Ally Panzloff leading Brown's offense with 13 kills each. Sophia Wolfson added 10 kills, hitting .500 and lead the Bears with four service aces. Julia Kakkis spread the ball around with 37 assists.

Jessie Golden finished the match with 20 digs, followed by eight from Sidorova. At the net, Wolfson and Sarah Shaw each had three blocks.

UCF (7-2) outhit the Bears for the match but Brown hit over .400 in two of the three sets the Bears won.

With the scored tied at 17 in the first set, Brown took control with a 5-0 run that featured kills by Wolfson and Sidorova to go ahead 22-17. The teams traded scores until Hannah Flannery closed out the set with a kill.

The Bears led 21-20 in the second set before UCF scored four of the next five points to earn set point. Brown would fight off two set points before earning three set points that UCF would also fight off. After UCF earned set point at both 29-28 and 30-29, the Bears took the next three points with a kill by Shaw giving the Bears the 2-0 lead in the match.

UCF responded winning set three 25-17 to escape the sweep.

Brown jumped ahead in the fourth 13-9 with a 5-0 run and pushed the lead to six after kills by Ally Panzloff to take a 20-14 lead. Kills by Shaw and Sidorova gave the Bears match point. After a point by the Knights, Sidorova closed out the match with a kill.

Brown will be on the road for its final non-conference weekend at UConn (Sept. 19-21).
