Men’s Tennis Tallies Eight Wins on Day Two of Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - The Brown men's tennis team collected eight victories on Saturday, winning four of six singles matches and four of eight doubles contests to wrap up day two of the Dartmouth Invitational.

In doubles action, Cole Oberg and Robert Yang secured two victories for Brown, first defeating Aguiar and Di Staulo of Fairfield (6-2), and later cruising past Martinez and Kelly of Bryant (6-1). Lukas Phimvongsa and Noah Hernandez also notched a doubles win, taking down Kollias and Alcala of Fairfield (6-1). The doubles pairing of Zander Bravo and Theo Murphy earned a solid 6-4 win over Martinez and Kelley from Bryant, but fell in a tight battle against Fairfield's Stabek and Jessett (7-5)

Lian and Wasserman were edged out in both of their doubles contests, dropping 7-5 decisions to Pellegrini/Peterson of Bryant and Bao/Halmos of Dartmouth. Phimvongsa and Hernandez also dropped a match to Machado and Baquero of Bryant (6-3).

In singles action, James Lian picked up a win over Bryant's Pellegrini (7-5, 6-0) for his first singles victory of the season. Cole Oberg continued his strong form with a tight win over Dartmouth's Patel in two close sets (7-6(5), 7-5). Robert Yang also delivered a solid performance, defeating Pade of Dartmouth in straight sets (6-3, 7-5), while Elliot Wasserman came out on top in a three-set battle against Bao from Dartmouth (6-1, 0-6, 10-6). Theo Murphy fell to Alcala of Fairfield in a tight match (6-4, 0-6, 10-8), while Noah Hernandez suffered a close defeat in a third-set tiebreak to Dartmouth's Halmos (2-6, 6-3, 14-12).

Brown will conclude the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 14.
