PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Ivy League announced the 2024-25 At Large Academic All-Conference Team, honoring six members of the Bears. The At Large Academic All-Ivy team recognizes top student-athletes in non-Ivy League-sponsored sports.
Aziza Alford of women's rugby, Julia Byrne of equestrian, Maya Davis of gymnastics, Emily Mueller of coed sailing, Kole Newman of men's water polo, and Claire Poissonnier of women's water polo were recognized for their contributions to their respective sports and the classroom.
A senior from Mount Vernon, New York, Alford was named Defensive Player of the Year at this year's Brown Women's Rugby banquet. Alford and the Bears earned their third consecutive CRC Championship in the spring, after receiving NIRA Division I Second Team All-America honors in the fall.
A senior from New York City, Byrne competed in the Zone 1 Championship this spring.
Davis capped off her sensational Brown career with an appearance at NCAA Regionals. She graduated as a three-time USAG All-American, a five-time All-GEC, and a three-time All-Ivy Classic honoree. In 2025, she captured the GEC individual title on floor, was named the GEC Specialist of the Year, and qualified for the NCAA Regional on floor. She won the Ivy League championship on floor with a score of 9.900 at the Ivy Classic and concluded the season tied for first in the GEC for the top floor NQS (9.865). Overall, she is one of only nine gymnasts in program history to score a 9.900 on floor and one of only four to achieve this multiple times.
Mueller received 2025 Crew Honorable Mention All-America honors after Brown placed fourth at nationals. She also earned First Team All-NEISA Open Crews for the second consecutive season.
A junior from Santa Monica, California, Newman appeared in two matches for the nationally ranked men's water polo program. He was named a 2024 ACWPC All-Academic Honoree in the "Outstanding" category.
Poissonnier graduated with an ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America nod, as well as earning CWPA All-Tournament Second Team. She finished the season with 27 goals and added 16 steals.
