No. 6 Men's Crew Looks to Repeat at Eastern Sprints
5/16/2025 9:00:00 AM | Men's Crew
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After an intense day of racing and the closest V8 race of the season on May 3 against the Princeton Tigers, Brown men's crew looks to finish the season strong when they head to Worcester, Massachusetts to race in the Eastern Sprints on May 18.Â
The Bears V8, which earned gold in last year's Grand Final to win the Worcester Bowl and also won the Ivy Championship in the process, has taken the top spot at the Eastern Sprints eight times since 1984. Brown is looking to repeat as Eastern Sprints champions for the first time since the 1990's, when the Bears won three in a row from 1993-1995. This season has showcased the skill and stamina that Brown's top boat possesses, with four first place finishes and four second place finishes against some of the best programs in the country.Â
The 2V8, 3V8, and 5V8 are all coming off of first place finishes against Princeton, showing the incredibly deep pool of talent that Men's Crew Head Coach Chair Paul Cooke '89 has assembled.Â
As is customary at the Eastern Sprints, the top two Ivy League V8 boats will receive First and Second Team All-Ivy honors, with the entire Bears V8 lineup receiving First Team All-Ivy nods after winning last season. Â
With the IRA Championships only a few weeks away, the races this weekend in Worcester serve as the final tune up for the Bears before they turn their attention to nationals.Â
