Sailing Maintains Momentum with Another Strong Weekend

PROVIDENCE. R.I. - The Brown sailing teams continued their strong season with three events on the road last weekend, earning podium finishes at two.
The nationally ranked No. 3 women's sailing team tied for second place with Harvard in the Yale Women's Team Race. Brown rounded out the event with a 7-3 record, matching the Crimson's. Reese Corckran, Katharine Doble, Francesca Edmands, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Katherine Majette, Katherine McNamara, and Savannah Young took the Bears to thier second place finish.
The No. 10 open sailing team competed for the Fowle Trophy in the NEISA Open Team Race Championship hosted by Harvard. This race is comprised of the top 12 teams in the New England area. The Bears earned a sixth place finish behind Dartmouth (5th), Boston College (4th), Roger Williams (3rd), Harvard (2nd), and Yale (1st). Brown closed out the race with a 10-12 overall record after a tight battle for fourth place. Blake Behrens, Guthrie Braun, Leyton Borcherding, Helen Horangic, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, Emily Mueller, Brianna Ross, and Camren Spriggs represented Brown in the event.
The open team also competed in the Mystic Lake Team Race hosted by Tufts. Brown finished the race with a 6-2 record, landing them in third place out of 10 teams. The event was limited to only one day of sailing, due to the lack of wind on Sunday. James Brock, Charles Gish, Corinne Harrison, Talia Levine, Janelle Li, Sidney Moyer, and Marin Soderberg led Brown to third place.

The women's sailing team will host the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship for the Legler Trophy (Apr. 12-13) at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston, R.I. The open sailing team will compete in the Thompson Trophy Team Race hosted by the Coast Guard Academy, and the Oberg Trophy hosted by MIT. Both events will begin at 10:30 a.m. and run through Apr. 12-13.
