No. 7 Women's Crew Wins Dunn Bowl Against Cornell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On a weekend where they will be honoring their eight seniors, the Brown women's crew program put forth a thoroughly dominant performance against the Cornell Big Red on Friday evening and took home the Dunn Bowl as a result.
"Having a home race this year meant so much to this team," said Loyalty Chair for Women's Crew Head Coach Tessa Gobbo-Zimmerman '13. "A huge thanks to Cornell who really went out of their way to make this race happen. We also appreciate everyone who came to support both teams' race."
In the V8 race, stroked by Isla Wilding and coxed by Summer Balla-Kellett, took home the Dunn Bowl for the Bears after crossing the finish line in 6:48.5. The victory marks the second first place finish for the varsity this season, with the first coming against Penn on Apr. 5.
The 2V8, stroked by Jessica McGrady abd coxed by Caitly Roddy, posted a final time of 7:01.9 en route to their second first place finish of the season. The 3V8, stroked by Sophie Perkel and coxed by Fiona Daly, recorded their largest margin of the victory of the season after crossing the finish line in 7:48.0 and beating Cornell by 32.8 seconds.
The largest margin of victory on the day belonged to the A4, who defeated the Big Red by 40.5 seconds. Stroked by Nicole Urquiaga and coxed by Brooke Halvorsen, the A4 crossed the finish line in 7:56.1. The B4 also had an incredibly strong performance after crossing the finish line in 8:21.7. Stroked by Calissa Snyder Cox and coxed by Katherine Mitchell, the B$ won their race by 36.4 seconds.
The C4, stroked by Charlotte Moody and coxed by Amelia Mawn, also put together an impressive performance after posting a final time of 8:56.6 and winning by 16.6 seconds.
The Bears will be back on the water when they head to Worcester, Massachusetts on May 4 to compete in the Eastern Sprints.
