No. 17 Women’s Lacrosse Falls 15-13 at No. 5 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 17 Brown women's lacrosse team (10-3, 4-2) suffered a 15-13 loss at No. 5 Princeton (12-2, 5-1) on Saturday afternoon.
Greta Criqui opened the scoring 43 seconds into the contest before it took seven minutes to provide the next goal as Princeton knotted the game at one. Back-to-back goals from Leah Caputo and Criqui 50 seconds apart gave Brown a 3-1 advantage late in the first. The Tigers cut the Bears' lead to 3-2 with 17 seconds remaining in the frame as Brown took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.
Princeton opened the second quarter on a 4-0 run with all four goals coming in a three-minute span as they took a 6-3 lead. Riley Peterson stopped the Princeton run with a goal to cut the lead to 6-4. After the Tigers extended their lead to 7-4, the Bears responded with goals from Maddie Joyce and Annie Burton to cut the deficit to one. Burton's goal came with just 40 seconds remaining in the half as Princeton held a 7-6 advantage at halftime.
Brown controlled the draws in the first half, winning 11 out of 15, they also caused four turnovers as Princeton caused two.
Princeton opened the second half on a 3-0 run, pushing its lead to 10-6 with 7:51 remaining in the third. Brown then responded with a 3-0 run of its own, highlighted by two goals from Peterson. Ruby Silwkowski's first goal of the game cut the Tiger lead to 10-9 with 4:12 remaining. Princeton pushed its lead to 11-9 with 58 seconds left in the third.
Princeton put a stamp on the contest with three-straight goals in the first 1:21 of the fourth quarter, pushing its lead to 14-9. Brown scored four out of the next five goals in the contest, but it wasn't enough as Princeton took home the win.
Peterson and Criqui led the way offensively for Brown with four goals each, the Bears had seven different players find the back of the net in the loss. Joyce and Beth Anderson led the way with four draw controls each, five different Bears also had one assist.
Brown will conclude the regular season when they welcome Penn to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday, Apr. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
