PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Alex Finkelstein of the Brown men's tennis team has been ranked the No. 115 singles player in the nation by ITA.
"As we approach the final stretch of the regular season, our team continues to build on what has already been an outstanding year - both collectively and individually," Head Coach Alex Kasarov said. "From non-conference battles to Ivy League play, our student-athletes have consistently stepped up and given their all, and I expect nothing less as we prepare for our final two home matches."
Finkelstein becomes the first Brown singles performer to be ranked since Dan Hanegby in 2007.
The Raynham, Mass. native owns a 17-9 singles mark and a 65.0 winning percentage, Finkelstein has won eight out his last 10 singles matches.
Last weekend, Finkelstein defeated the No. 39 ranked Daniel Milavsky of Harvard and has a team-best 15-7 mark against No. 1 opponents. Earlier this season, Finkelstein won six consecutive singles matches.
As a team, the Bears have 106 singles victories and have enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history with 18 wins, the most since the 2009Â season. Brown's 16 home wins ties the best mark in program history set in 2006.
"It's been a rewarding journey with this group, and I'm incredibly proud of the commitment and buy-in each player has shown throughout the season," Kasarov added. "Alex Finkelstein, in particular, has delivered some exceptional tennis this spring. But across the board, every member of our team has continued to elevate their game with each match. This weekend, we're excited to host No. 49 Penn on Saturday, followed by a memorable Senior Day match against No. 34 Princeton on Sunday."
