Meusy’s Walk-Off Gives Bears Series Win over Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pinch-hit walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning from junior Logan Meusy lifted the Bears to a 3-2 win over Dartmouth in Saturday's afternoon's rubber game of their three-game series.

The victory gives Brown its first Ivy League series win this season. Freshman Luke Trout tossed 7.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. Sophomore Ryan Oshinskie added 2.0 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Mika Petersen and Brandon Chang each had two hits for Brown, and freshman Christian Butera reached twice via a walk and RBI single and scored the winning run.

Brown jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second as Chang and Mark Henshon reached to start the inning. Butera then drove a 3-2 pitch to the opposite field for an RBI single to make it 1-0, and Jack Edmunds later added a sac fly.

The Big Green scored twice in the fourth inning, using a hit by pitch, two hits and a sac fly to even the score.

Brown stranded two runners in scoring position in the seventh, while the Big Green left runners in scoring position in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

In the bottom of the ninth, Butera drew a walk with two outs, prompting Dartmouth to make a pitching change. Brown countered by sending Meusy to the plate, who hit a hard grounder fair inside the third base bag into the left field corner that scored Butera all the way from first with the winning run.

The Bears will conclude their eight-game homestand this coming Wednesday, April 16 against the University of Rhode Island with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch on ESPN+.
