Women's Lacrosse Overcomes Four-Goal Deficit to Defeat Binghamton 13-12 in Double Overtime

VESTAL, N.Y. - Maddie Joyce scored a game-winning double overtime goal to cap off a four-goal comeback as the Brown women's lacrosse team (5-1, 0-1) defeated Binghamton (2-5) 13-12 on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 10-6 going into the fourth quarter, Joyce cut the Binghamton lead to 10-7, following Joyce's goal, the Bearcats extended its lead to 11-7. Brown then scored five consecutive goals in a six-minute span to take a 12-11 lead. Greta Criqui scored three of the five goals during the comeback as Joyce and Carly Camphausen contributed one goal each to the comeback. Camphausen's goal gave Brown a 12-11 lead with 2:47 remaining, after Binghamton tied the game with 18 seconds remaining, the two sides headed to overtime.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first overtime, as Joyce's game-winning free position goal came with three seconds left in double overtime to lift the Bears past the Bearcats.
Criqui led all scorers with six goals to go along with eight draw controls as Joyce tallied a hat trick, all three of her goals came in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Camphausen chipped in with two goals, two ground balls, and four draw controls in the win as Paige Gillen had a game-high eight ground balls, a team-high three caused turnovers, and one draw control. Gillen's eight ground balls were the most by a Bear this season.
As a team, Brown had a season-high 19 ground balls and a season-high 13 caused turnovers.
Brown will return to action when they welcome the defending National Champions No. 1 Boston College on Tuesday, Mar. 18. The opening draw control is set for 5:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
