Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Five With Wins Over #70 NJIT and Holy Cross.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team (14-5) extended its winning streak to five matches after taking down #70 NJIT (9-2) 4-3 before defeating Holy Cross (1-5) 6-1 on Sunday inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Brown's win over #70 NJIT was the first win over a ranked opponent in the last 10 years, Brown's 14-5 start to the 2025 season is the best start since the 2017-18 season. Brown is also 12-0 at the Pizzitola Sports Center this season.
Against NJIT, Brown went unbeaten in doubles action behind wins by Lukas Phimvongsa and Noah Hernandez. Along with Phimvongsa and Hernandez, Sam Feldman and James Lian picked up wins over the Highlanders.
After Alex Finkelstein suffered a loss in singles play, Noah Hernandez won a dramatic second set tiebreak. From there Hernadez had control of the momentum, finishing his match 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
Down 3-2, Brown needed to win the last two singles matches to claim the victory as Zander Bravo and James Lian earned victories after dropping a combined six games in four sets to take their respective straight set wins and the match for Brown, Bravo's singles clinched the victory for the Bears.
The Bears carried their momentum into their contest with Holy Cross, highlighted by a 6-3 victory in doubles play by George Bader and Brian Chong.
Overall, the Bears swept the Crusaders in doubles play. They went on to control singles action winning five out of six matches, ultimately earning a 6-1 win over Holy Cross.
Brown will be back in action on Friday, Mar. 22 when they welcome Navy to the Pizzitola Sports Center at 12:00 p.m.
