Sailing Posts Three Podium Finishes in Weekend Events

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 10 Brown open and No. 3 women's sailing teams continued their strong season last weekend, earning podium finishes at three out of their four events.
The open sailing team won the Jumbo Team Race in Medford, Mass. hosted by Tufts. The team posted an impressive 17-3 record in the event, placing them first out of eight teams. James Brock, Reese Corckran, Charles Gish, Tyler Lamm, Janelle Li, Olivia Miller, Marin Soderberg, and Mason Stang helped lead the Bears to first.
The open team also competed in the Marchiando (Grey) Team Race at MIT, finishing third out of eight teams. The Bears finished out the event with an 11-10 record. Harvard and Yale preceded Brown, earning first and second place respectively. Blake Behrens, Leyton Borcherding, Guthrie Braun, Helen Horangic, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, Emily Mueller, and Brianna Ross represented the Bears in the race.
The women's sailing team hosted the Dellenbaugh Trophy Team Race at home. Brown finished third out of 10 teams, rounding out the event with an 8-7 record. Katharine Doble, Francesca Edmands, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Menasha Leport, Katherine Majette, Katherine McNamara, and Savannah Young took the Bears to their third place finish.
The remainder of the open sailing team competed at the BU Trophy Fleet Race, posting a sixth place finish out of 16 teams.
UP NEXT
The open sailing team will compete in the NEISA Open Team Race Championship at Harvard, and the Mystic Lake Team Race at Tufts. The women's sailing team will head to New Haven for the Yale Women's Team Race. They will also compete in the Emily Wick Interconference Race at Connecticut College. All events will run through next weekend, Apr. 5-6.
