Ella Palmer Nets Four Goals in Win at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday Night Split

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Brown women's water polo (12-13) split two games on Wednesday, taking down Pomona-Pitzer before falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to close out the trip to California.
BROWN 11, POMONA-PITZER 10
Led by four goals from Ella Palmer and a strong game in goal from Roxanne Hazuka, Brown earned an 11-10 win over Pomona-Ptizer on Wednesday evening.
Ava Schoening added two goals for the Bears while Madeleine Poissonnier, Claire Poissonnier, Aubrie Anderson, Hanna Tidrenczel and Sofia Holman all found the net once.
The Bears jumped up 3-0 early and held a 4-2 lead after the first quarter. The script flipped in the second quarter with Pomona-Pitzer outscoring Brown 4-2 in the second and the game was tied 6-6 at halftime.
With the game tied at seven, Brown went on a 4-0 run with both of Schoening's goals and goals from Palmer and Tidrenczel putting the Bears up 11-7. The Bears would go scoreless over the last 3:41 of the game as the Sagehens pulled within one with 54 seconds left but Hazuka's seventh save came on a shot with 20 seconds left to keep the Bears ahead for the win.
CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS 13, BROWN 12
In the second game of the night, Brown gave up a late lead in a one-goal loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to end its trip to California.
Claire Poissonnier and Ava Schoening led Brown with three goals each. Madeleine Poissonnier had two goals with Ella Palmer, Alexandra Love, Gaby Montalvo and Sofia Holman all scored once.
Sarah Decker finished the game with six saves.
Brown trailed by one after the first quarter but tied the game up after the second with the score knotted at five after the first 16 minutes.
The Bears used a 4-0 run spanning the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters to take an 11-7 lead after back-to-back goals by Schoening. A goal by Claire Poissonnier with 3:10 left in the game put Brown up 12-9 but Claremont-Mudd-Scripps scored the next four goals to end the game and pick up the win.

Brown will remain on the road over the weekend as the Bears travel to Princeton to take on the Tigers and Mercyhurst on Saturday (March 29).
