PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second consecutive week, Brown senior Maya Davis has been named the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Specialist of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
In Sunday's senior day dual meet victory against Bridgeport, Davis shined by taking home the individual titles on both bars and (tying for first place on) floor. She posted scores of 9.850 on both events, with the mark tying her career-high on bars.
This marks the fifth consecutive week and sixth time overall this season that a Brown gymnast has won a weekly GEC award, joining fellow Specialists of the Week Emily Ford (Feb. 19), Julia Bedell (Jan. 15, Feb. 12), Davis' previous award (Mar. 5), and Newcomer of the Week Avery Walters (Feb. 26).
Brown will compete in a quad meet this Sunday with three fellow GEC programs at the University of Bridgeport with Southern Connecticut State and William & Mary. The GEC Championships will take place on March 22 in Philadelphia.
