Track and Field Completes Stellar Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., BOSTON, Mass. – The Brown Bears Track and Field teams competed at multiple meets this weekend with several personal records being broken. Three school top 10 lists were cracked including from Delaney Seligmann (Pentathlon/3866), Maddelynn Brooks (400 meter/8.95) and Morgan Boonshaft (5000 meter/16:27.15).
MEN
HARVARD CRIMSON ELITE
Frank Monahan-Morang finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 7.13 meters. Adeposi Aderogba was 12th with a mark of 6.73 meters.
Joseph Oduro competed in the men's triple jump, earning second with a mark of 15.21 meters.
BU SCARLET AND WHITE INVITATIONAL
Junior Elias Archie finished 12th in the men's 200 meter dash open race with a time of 22.55. First-years Kyle Dargie (13th/22.69) and Andreas Nikolopoulos (27th/24.42) both set personal records in the 200 meter dash.
Trevor Wilder and Jason Estrada raced in the 200 meter invite race. Wilder was 14th with a time of 21.73 and Estrada was 28th with a time of 22.22. They also competed in the 400 meter invite race. Estrada placed 16th with a time of 48.92 and Wilder placed 22nd with a time of 49.94.
Sophomores Aaron Caveney (33rd/1:52.89) and Jake Haley (57th/1:55.99) competed in the men's 800 meter race. Caveney set a personal record.
Sophomore John Ryan set a personal record and finished sixth with a time of 2:26.05 in the 1000 meter race. Henry Wood was 26th with a time of 2:34.04.
Sebastian Margetts (42nd/3:51.53), Nicholas Strayer (80th/4:08.93) and Colin Fisher (81st/4:09.76) set personal records in the 1500 meter race.
The men's mile also featured Margetts and Fisher earning personal records. Margetts (40th/4:07.47), Fisher (79th/4:26.43) and Strayer (81st/4:28.38) competed in the mile race.
John Farrell (56th/8:23.22), Justin Hickey (61st/8:26.69), Luke Bodden (71st/8:31.42) and Kit Jackson (101st/8:54.75) set personal records in the 3000 meter race.
Sophomore Tommy Gaffey set a personal record after finishing seventh in the 5000 meter race with a time of 14:36.85.
Gabriel Thai was 11th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.17. Link Lignell was 13th with a time of 9.75, setting a new personal record.
In the men's high jump Gabriel Thai finished 10th with a mark of 1.85 meters. Hunter Springer was 12th with a mark of 1.75 meters and Link Lignell was 13th with a mark of 1.55 meters.
The men's long jump featured Thai (12th/6.20m) and Lignell (13th/6.20m).
WOMEN
HARVARD CRIMSON ELITE
The women's 60 meter hurdles include five Bears competitors. Simone Dunbar was the top finisher for Brown with a 13th place finish and a time of 8.81. Maddelynn Brooks (17th/8.95) (Personal Record), Rosie Volpintesta (21st/9.08) (Personal Record), Kareema McKenzie (23rd/9.25) and Elle Riley (25th/9.43) also competed.
Junior Nene Mokonchu finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.73 meters.
Senior Jada Joseph was third in the long jump with a mark of 5.99 meters, while junior Simone Dunbar finished 15th with a mark of 5.13 meters.
Delaney Seligmann was the lone Bear in the pentathlon, finishing second with a total of 3866 points. That score moves her up to fourth best in school history. She set personal records in the high jump (1.66m), shot put (11.28m) and 800 meter run (2:25.39).

Junior Elle Riley ran a personal best 25.26 in the 200 meter dash invite, placing 24th. Three Bears competed in the 200 meter open race including Kate Scanlan (3rd/25.32) (Personal Record), Anna Pollak (14th/25.92) (Personal Record) and Jenna Lowrey (25th/26.52).
Maddelynn Brooks finished 10th in the 400 meter dash invite with a time of 55.62, which was a personal record and seventh fastest in school history. Scanlan (23rd/57.18), Riley (26th/57.67) and Lowrey (31st/58.81) also competed. In the 400 meter open race, Kareema McKenzie (7th/58.11) set a personal record and Anna Pollak (14th/59.40) competed.
Sophomore Tanisha Patil was fifth in the 500 meter race with a time of 1:15.43. Katrina Sortland set a personal record with a 14th place finish and a time of 1:17.21.
Emily Mrakovcic (32nd/2:12.83), Lillian Kaelber (48th/2:18.17) and Juli Gonzalez (51st/2:19.35) competed in the women's 800 meter race.
Mrakovcic set a personal record and was ninth in the 1000 meter race with a time of 2:56.42 and Nina Kruzewska was 10th with a time of 2:56.87, which was also a personal record. Gonzalez (18th/2:59.86), Kaelber (25th/3:02.94) and Julia Soderbery (31st/3:09.90) (Personal Record) also competed.
The women's 1500 meter race featured junior Nimrit Ahuja finishing 27th with a time of 4:33.89. Isolde McManus (28th/4:34.19), Julia Schriefer (31st/4:38.70) and Julia Soderbery (46th/4:54.56) also competed.
The women's mile featured Ahuja (27th/4:52.87), McManus (4:53.38), Schriefer (4:57.26) and Soderbery (5:14.07). McManus and Soderbery set personal records.
The women's 3000 meter race included Olivia Fraga who set a personal record with a 28th place finish and a time of 9:43.77. Maxine Montoya (41st/9:58.41) and Sarah Paul (51st/10:08.95) also set personal records.
Morgan Boonshaft finished fourth and set a personal record in the 5000 meter race with a time of 16:27.15. It's the fifth fastest time in school history.

In the women's long jump Rachel Bibiu was second with a mark of 5.45 meters and Simone Dunbar was fifth with a mark of 5.34 meters. Volpintesta (15th/5.0m), Riya Aswani (22nd/4.59m) and Danielle Meribe (27th/3.91m) also competed.
Jada Joseph was second with a mark of 12.30 meters in the triple jump, while Bibiu was 16th with a mark of 10.4 meters.
UP NEXT
The Bears will return to action next Saturday. Some athletes will be back in Boston for the Boston University Valentine Invitational while others will compete at Yale University in the Giegengack Invitational.
