Brown University Director of Track & Field/Cross Country, Ken Hunt has announced the hiring of David Hightower as the Anne Rothenberg Assistant Coaching Chair for Track, Sprints/Jumps. Hightower joins the Bears from the United States Air Force Academy, where he served as an assistant coach for men's and women's sprints and relays from 2021–2025.
"I'm truly excited to welcome David back to the Northeast and into the Ivy League," said Hunt. "His experience, personality, and leadership make him a perfect fit for Brown University. I'm confident he will make a tremendous impact on our program and our student-athletes."
During his tenure at Air Force, Hightower played a key role in building a nationally competitive program. He coached and developed numerous student-athletes to multiple top-10 all-time marks, including multiple school records and NCAA regional qualifiers. His leadership extended beyond the track, where he was instrumental in recruiting, building team culture, and supporting student-athletes in balancing rigorous academic and athletic demands.
Previously, Hightower coached at Loyola University Maryland from 2014–2021, guiding sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers to significant personal bests while helping to shape the Greyhounds' program. He also began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer at Yale University (2013–2014), contributing to the development of Ivy League athletes for the Bulldogs.
Hightower is a USTFCCCA-certified Sprint, Hurdle, and Relay Event Specialist (2016) and holds a USA Track & Field Level 1 Certification (2014). He earned his bachelor's degree in Public Relations with a minor in English from Rider University.
