Women's Water Polo Travels to Santa Clara for Bronco Invitaional

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo makes its first trip out west this weekend to play four games at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University. Brown will play two games on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Bears will start the weekend on Saturday with games against No. 19 San Jose State (2:30 p.m. ET) and Santa Clara (7:30 p.m. ET). On Sunday, Brown will take on No. 20 Pacific (1:15 p.m. ET) and will close the weekend against UC Merced (6:45 p.m. ET).

Brown is 3-5 on the season after going 1-3 last weekend. The Bears dropped their conference opener to No. 8 Princeton and then went 1-2 at the Crimson Classic. Brown earned a 16-14 overtime win against No. 25 LIU, but fell to No. 15 UC Santa Barbara by one in overtime and to Villanova by three.
Aubrie Anderson leads the Bears roster with 17 goals on the season and is tied for the second on the team with eight assists. Hanna Tidrenczel is second on the squad with 15 goals and Ella Palmer, Samantha Kim and Sofia Holman are all tied with nine goals.
In goal, Somto Okafo leads the way with 33 saves with Roxanne Hazuka and Sarah Decker each collecting 24 saves.
San Jose State (6-6)
Brown is 2-4 against San Jose State but has won the last two games against the Spartans. The Bears have beaten San Jose State in the Bronco Invitational in each of the last two seasons.
Santa Clara (2-2)
The Bears are 3-1 against Santa Clara having won the last three matchups, all coming in the last three seasons at the Bronco Invitational.
Pacific (5-2)
Brown is 1-4 against Pacific with the last win being an 8-6 win at the Bronco Invitational back in 2022. Brown dropped an 11-10 game against the Tigers earlier this season.
UC Merced (1-8)
This will be the first meeting between Brown and UC Merced.
