Women’s Basketball Falls Short to Princeton, 67-78

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Brown women's basketball team (10-12, 4-5 Ivy) came up short against the Princeton Tigers (17-5, 8-1 Ivy) on Friday night at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Bears fought back for the entirety of the game after a tough first quarter, but the Tigers ultimately came out on top, 78-67.
The Bears saw three players finish Friday's contest in double figures. Sophomore guard Olivia Young posted a game-high 13 points. Senior guard Isabella Mauricio and junior guard Mady Calhoun finished out the game with 10 points each.
Brown also saw many different units out on the floor. Eight players clocked at least 20 minutes of playing time.
Junior forward Beth Nelson and Mauricio earned Brown's points in the first quarter. The Bears found themselves fighting back early on, as Princeton netted 33 points in the first quarter. Both teams grabbed 16 points in the second quarter, with the Bears still trailing the Tigers ahead of the half.
The Bears came out of the break with high energy and intensity, netting 22 points in the third quarter. This was the first quarter that Brown was able to out-score Princeton. Heading into the final 10 minutes, the Bears minimized their deficit to 18.
Triples from junior guard Mackenzie Leahy and Calhoun helped the Bears tack on more points to their total. Brown held Princeton to just 12 points in the final quarter, but was unable to come out on top.

The Bears will head to Philadelphia to take on the Penn Quakers tomorrow at The Palestra. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
