
2025-2026 Indoor Track & Field Season Preview

The Brown track and field programs will begin their indoor season at multiple meets this weekend. Multi athletes will compete at URI on Thursday and Friday, while distance runners will participate in the Boston University Season Opener on Saturday. Brown will host the 39th annual Alden Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6.
JUMPS
MEN
Senior Frank Monahan-Morang was named Second Team All-Ivy after a second-place finish at Indoor Heps last season in the long jump. His 7.38m performance was a personal best. Mubaraq Aderogba and Hunter Springer return for their junior campaigns.
WOMEN
Seniors Rachel Bibiu, Simone Dunbar, Makaya Fofana, and Nene Mokonchu, juniors Naa Adua Annan and Riya Aswani, and sophomore Adanna Obuba all saw action during the indoor season in 2024-25.

MULTIS AND THROWS
MEN
Junior Gabriel Liem Thai had a massive summer, being crowned the Vietnam National Champion in the decathlon in August 2025. He will look to translate that international success into valuable points in the Heptathlon at the Ivy League level.
The throws group features juniors Karon Johnson and Keith Daigneau. Daigneau competed in seven meets for the men's team the previous year, setting the fourth-best weight throw mark in school history at Ivy League Heps (19.97m). The performance was good for fifth. Johnson competed at seven meets, finishing 10th in the shot put at Ivy League Heps. He set a personal record in the weight throw at the Dartmouth Relays (13.97m). Junior Ethan Wordell competed in seven meets and placed 12th at Ivy League Heps with a personal record weight throw of 17.09m. Sophomore James Chafouleas participated in seven meets as a freshman in 2024-25, sophomore Vrishank Biju competed at last year's Alden Invitational, and first-year Sebastian Hess will join them.
WOMEN
Junior Jillian Leahy was eighth in the weight throw at Ivy League Indoor Heps in 2024 and competed in five meets last season for the women. Senior Zoe Carter-Konate competed at six meets last season, setting the ninth-best mark in school history at the Harvard Invitational (17.32m). Junior Michelyn Appiah competed in seven meets the previous year and placed fourth at Ivy League Heps with a weight throw mark of 18.81m. It was the second-best performance in program history. Earlier in the year, she set a personal best in the shot put (13.83m) during the Harvard Invitational. Sophomore Giana DeCesare participated in eight indoor meets as a freshman in 2024-25.
Rosie Volpintesta and Maria Camposano return after competing in the pentathlon last season. Volpintesta set personal records in the 60-meter hurdles (9.01), 800-meter (2:24.90), shot put (11.00m), and high jump (1.70m).

DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE
Coming off a successful cross-country season, the Bears' distance runners have high hopes for the upcoming indoor track and field season.
MEN
Junior Sebastian Margetts had a solid fall, claiming victories at the Rothenberg Run (Oct 2025) and leading the team at the Ivy League XC Championships. Senior Jason Markopoulos and juniors Matthew Doherty and Matt Wing will join him.
WOMEN
Senior Nimrit Ahuja is coming off an NCAA All-Region honor for her performance during the cross country season. Juniors Olivia Fraga and Veronica Ambrosionek add championship experience to the distance medley relay and distance events. Sophomore Sarah Paul and freshman Kata Clark look to factor in the distance.

SPRINTERS/HURDLERS
MEN
The sprint group is experienced, led by senior Jason Estrada, who was a member of the distance medley relay team that placed fourth at Ivy League Heps. He is joined by fellow seniors Elias Archie and Solomon Miller, providing veteran leadership in the sprints and relays. Sophomore Trevor Wilder also returns after setting the third fastest 200m dash mark in school history at the Penn 10 Elite (21.49).
WOMEN
Elle Riley, Simone Dunbar, Alyssa Jackson and Jenna Lowrey provide a veteran returning group for the sprint/hurdles group.
