
Volleyball Swept at Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball (13-8, 8-4 Ivy) was swept at Harvard (6-14, 5-7 Ivy), 25-21, 25-20, 26-24 on Saturday (Nov. 8).
The Bears were led on offense by Ally Panzloff, who finished with 11 kills on .417 hitting. Sophia Wolfson was second on the team with nine kills, hitting .333. Despite two good hitting numbers from Panzloff and Wolfson, Brown hit just .162 as a team.
Julia Kakkis finished the match with 28 assists.
On defense, Jessie Golden picked up 14 digs. Wolfson led Brown at the net with seven blocks, followed by five from Sarah Shaw.
The Bears struggled at the service line, finishing with just one ace and committing nine service errors.
Harvard took control of set one with a 4-0 run that turned the score from 10-9 to 14-9. The Bears got within two multiple times, including 23-21 after two-straight points but the Crimson scored the next to points to take the set.
Brown fell behind 6-1 early in set two. The Bears tried to claw back into the set and used a 3-0 run, capped by back-to-back blocks by Wolfson and Panzloff to pull within one at 17-16. Harvard responded with three-straight points to end any comeback for Brown.
Set three was back and forth with the Bears pulling even with Harvard multiple times but never being able to take the lead. Kills by Panzloff tied the set at 20 and at 22 and a kill by Wolfson tied the set at 24, but Harvard earned two-straight points to win the match.
UP NEXT
Brown will return home for the final two matches of the season as the Bears will take on Columbia (Nov. 14) and Cornell (Nov. 15) with both matches beginning at 6 p.m. Brown will host senior day before the Columbia match.
