Football Heads to Bryant for Friday Night In-State Showdown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football team will look to make it two wins in a row against in-state rivals when they head to Smithfield to face off against Bryant on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege, with a free Brown audio broadcast on the Learfield Varsity Network.

OPENING KICKOFF
- Brown and Bryant will meet for the 10th time on Friday, with each of the last eight matchups having been decided by one possession.
- Brown is coming off a huge win over then-No. 8/10 URI Iast Friday in Pawtucket in the Governor's Cup.

NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
• Brown's victory over Rhode Island in the Governor's Cup on October 3 earned the Bears national recognition as the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.
RANKED VICTORY
• Last week's victory over No. 8/10 URI in the Governor's Cup was Brown's first win over a ranked opponent since a 34-31 win over Holy Cross in 2009.
• It was also the Bears' first win over a top-10 opponent since 1981, when they defeated URI 10-8 in Kingston.
E.A. SPORTS: HE'S IN THE GAME
• Senior defensive back Elias Archie was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the New England Football Writers Gold Helmet winner, and was an honorable mention for the Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week after his standout performance against URI, having a hand in three of the Bears' four takeaways which had a direct impact on the outcome of the game.
• He finished the game with 4.0 tackles, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
• His INT on the opening drive set up Brown's first TD, his forced fumble came at the one-yard line and rolled thru the end zone for a touchback, taking what would have been a Rhody touchdown off the board, and he added a fourth quarter fumble recovery near midfield.
MULROONEY'S MAKEOVER
• New defensive coordinator Dan Mulrooney's system has turned heads in the early part of this season, completely remaking the Bears' defense.
• Brown ranks fourth in FCS (2nd in the Ivy League) with a turnover margin of +1.33 turnovers per game.
• The Bears have recovered a league-leading four fumbles, are tied for second with four interceptions and have posted a league-leading 11 sacks.
SACK ATTACK
• Brown ranks third in FCS with 3.67 sacks per game.
• The Bears set a new program record with 9.0 sacks in the season-opener against Georgetown.
• The 183 yards of total offense is the fewest allowed by the team since they allowed just 166 against Georgetown on September 29, 2012.
• The Bears posted 13.0 TFLs as a team in the game.
• Brown forced four turnovers, including two interceptions.
QUELLING THE BIG PLAYS
• Brown has allowed a touchdown of 43 yards or greater in 14 of the 20 games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
• So far in 2025, Brown has allowed one such score through the first three games, which came on a 44-yard pass against Harvard.

SCOUTING BRYANT
- The Bulldogs started the year 2-1, including a win over FBS UMass 27-26, but have dropped three straight since, including a pair of two-point losses to Campbell (2OT) and Towson.
- Backup quarterbacks Jaden Keefner and Ridge Docekal played the entire game last week in a 34-14 loss to against Maine and were a combined 10-for-25 for 99 yards passing.
- Keefner led the Bulldogs with 83 yards rushing.
- Receivers Zyheem Collick (61.67), Aldrich Doe (46.5) and Tristen Riley (42.00) lead the team in receiving yards with Collick holding three of the team's seven receiving touchdowns.
- Keylijah Williams is averaging nearly 29 yards per kick return this season and has a 100-yard return for a touchdown.
