PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown sailing teams competed in three events across the weekend earning two podium finishes, and finishing within the top 10 in their last event.
The Bears won their third major event of the fall season, finishing first out of 18 teams in the Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1B at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. This marks the second-straight year that Brown has won the event. The team finished nine points ahead of second place Harvard, qualifying for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship at the U.S. Naval Academy from Oct. 18-19. Senior Guthrie Braun and junior Vera Allen finished second in the A division, while junior Blake Behrens and senior Caroline Keeffe-Jones won the B division.
Brown also had two teams competing for the Sister Esther Trophy at Roger Williams. Bears 1 finished second place overall, just four points behind Boston College in the 18-team event. The Bears' A division team of co-skippers Camren Spriggs and Tyler Lamm, along with crews Dominic Ciccimaro and Reese Corckran dominated the event. They posted three first place finishes, and a second place finish to win their division only five points in a four race series due to light winds.
