Wrestling Season Preview
10/31/2025
On Nov. 2, the Brown Bears will compete in the first tournament of the 2025-26 season as they make their way to Princeton, New Jersey to wrestle in the Princeton Open. The Bears, who finished last season with a 3-9 overall record, ended the regular season strong by soundly defeating both Harvard (36-6) and Sacred Heart (43-3). Marvin Wilenzik '56 Head Coaching Chair for Brown Wrestling Jordan Leen and his staff will look for their wrestlers to carry that momentum with them into this season, with several notable invitationals scheduled in November.

Roster Breakdown
The Bears will have a balanced roster this season, with seven freshmen, six sophomores, five juniors, six seniors, and one fifth year. The freshmen are Eli Carr, Khimari Manns, Preston Marchesseault, Riley McPherson, Max Norman, Abraham Pomeroy, and Braedon Welsh. Joey Iamunno, Jacob Joyce, Connor O'Donnell, Andrew Reall, Tomas Sandoval, and Kai Tengco all return to the program for their sophomore seasons.
Moving on to the upperclassmen, Jared Brunner, Dominc Frontino, Alex Hamrick, Ethan Mojena, and Nico Romero all enter their junior campaigns at Brown. Drew Clearie, Jonathan Conrad, Michael Joyce, Austin McBurney, Nicholas Olivieri, and Alex Semenenko embark on their final season in a Bears uniform, while fifth year Ian Oswalt remains with the program for one final run.

Standout Performers
Brown will return several standout wrestlers from last season, with the most notable being Andrew Reall and Alex Semenenko. Reall enters the season ranked 30th in the nation in his weight class (197) by FloWrestling after wrestling all of last season at 184 pounds. Semenenko returns to the Bears after etching his name in the program's record book last season, scoring 13 pinfall victories in 2024-25. Those 13 falls are good enough for the second most all-time in a single season for a Brown wrestler, trailing only Tivon Abel ‘98 and Ophir Bernstein ’15, who both had 14 falls respectively in 1994-95 and 2013-14.
Another key contributor this season will be Michael Joyce, who is the only wrestler on the roster who has qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships. Joyce won several matches last season and has 11 wins in his career with the Bears.

Schedule Breakdown
The season begins on Nov. 2 in New Jersey, where Brown will compete in the Princeton Open. Other notable invitationals on the docket are the Army Invitational (Nov. 16), Big Red Invitational (Nov. 23), Cougar Clash Open (Dec. 7), Southern Scuffle (Jan. 3-4), and Davidson Duals (Jan. 16-17).
The Bears will be spending a lot more time at the Pizzitola Center this season, with five home matches on the schedule, up from two in 2024-25. The first home match is scheduled for Nov. 15 against the Davidson Wildcats. The remaining home matches take place on Jan. 31 against the Penn Quakers, Feb. 1 against the Princeton Tigers, Feb. 21 against Sacred Heart, and Feb. 22 against the Harvard Crimson.
