
Ahuja Sets Top 10 Mark as Brown Competes at Paul Short Run

Bethlehem, Pa - The Brown cross country programs competed in the Paul Short Run on Friday in Bethlehem Pa. The men finished 34th and the women finished 19th in their respective meets. Senior John Farrell led the men's side finishing 151st overall out of 344, and senior Nimrit Ahuja led the Bears for the second straight meet, running the sixth fastest 6K time in program history.
Georgetown captured first in the men's 8K race, finishing with 102 points, Utah State followed and finished second with 123 points. Texas A&M (137), Harvard (147), and Wingate (181) finished out the top five in the men's race that featured 40 teams.Â
In the men's race, Farrell finished 151st with a time of 24:49.7 which ranks as the 45th fastest 8K time in school history. Sophomore Colin Fisher finished second on the team and 191st overall with a time of 25:09.5. Freshman Duncan Frisbie-Smith (211th/25:17.3), junior Sebastian Margetts (248th/25:35.2), junior Matt Wing (259th/25:42.3), sophomore Luke Bodden (288th/26:02.2), and freshman Will Smitas (342nd/28:21.9) secured points for the Bears.
In the women's 6K race, Villanova claimed first with 110 points, as Penn State finished second with 115 points. Georgetown (143), Texas A&M (172), and Utah State (214) finished out the top five in the women's race that featured 40 teams.
Ahuja finished first for Brown and 39th overall with a time of 20:40.8 which ranks as the sixth fastest 6K time in school history. Freshman Haley Kavanagh finished second for Brown and 91st overall with a time of 21:13.8 which ties the 30th fastest 6K time in school history. Senior Julia Schriefer (143rd/21:32.7), freshman Charlotte Murphy (158th/21:36.7), senior Emily Mrakovcic (177th/21:45.6), sophomore Ariana Thiel-Hadjilambrinos (240th/22:19.1), and junior Olivia Fraga (247th/22:24.5) secured points for the Bears.Â
Brown will return to action on Friday, October 10th, at the New England XC Championships at 12 p.m.
