CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Brown men's soccer team (5-5-2, 1-2-1 Ivy) resumed Ivy play at Harvard (4-4-4, 1-2-1 Ivy) Saturday evening, dropping the match 4-2.
Harvard struck first, getting on the board in just the fourth minute. Alejandro Palacio sent the ball into the back of the net from a corner kick opportunity to give the Crimson the 1-0 edge to start.
The Bears went on to earn the equalizer in the 19th minute. Junior forward Lorenzo Amaral sent a pass over the head of Harvard's Ethan Veghte to first-year midfielder Marshall Treese. Treese sent the ball across the box to Jamin Gogo Peters for the score.
First-year forward Mateo Pereyra scored his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute of the match, giving Brown a 2-1 edge over Harvard. Pereyra's goal came from a throw-in by senior defender Greyson Mitchell.
The Crimson retaliated five minutes later on a corner kick opportunity. Lucas Benuce Sarvas found the back of the net to tie up the score at 2-2 heading into the break.
Competition remained tight coming out of the break, with both teams holding each other off until the 70th minute. Harvard's Dylan Tellado sent an initial shot that goalkeeper Pfaffman saved. Adam Poliakov was able to capitalize on the rebound, scoring the Crimson's third goal of the night.
The Bears made a change in goalkeeping in the 70th minute, sending senior Henrik Weiper in for the remainder of the match. Harvard squeaked one last goal by Weiper in the 89th minute, solidifying their first conference win of the season.
