PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon in a 40-21 loss to Princeton at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Sophomore Matt Childs went over the century mark in all-purpose yards with a career-high 94 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and added four catches for 29 yards.
Fourteen different Bears caught a pass, with junior Michael Nesbit leading the team with 31 yards.
Junior Jackson Bennett rushed for 42 yards on seven carries, and senior Qwentin Brown rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown.
Senior John Perdue had a game-high 9.0 tackles (eight solo), and one sack for 15 yards.
Sophomore Jack Middleton had 3.0 tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss.
Junior quarterback James Murphy threw for 173 yards on 22-for-35 passing.
Brown turned the ball over four times, leading to 17 Princeton points. The Bears turned two Princeton miscues into seven points.
Brown rushed for 163 yards, its second-most this season while going 9-for-18 on third downs.
Princeton outgained the Bears in total yards 412-370.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers converted two third downs and two fourth downs on their opening drive to take an early 7-0 lead on a three-yard touchdown pass on a fade to the back left corner.
Brown took advantage of a Princeton muffed punt, scoring on the first play after the miscue as Childs broke three tackles en route to a 27-yard touchdown run to knot the score at the 7:00 mark.
Princeton turned an interception into three points as Brown's defense stood tall after the turnover and forced a 37-yard field goal at 2:48 of the first quarter.
The Bears took the lead early in the second on fourth-and-goal as Qwentin Brown ran it in from a yard out to go up 14-10 at 11:27.
Princeton retook the lead 17-14 with 6:31 left until halftime on a 20-yard pass over the middle.
Princeton pushed the lead to 20-14 with 19 seconds left in the half on a 29-yard field goal.
After a pair of Brown turnovers to start the second half, Princeton took advantage with a one-yard touchdown at the 7:30 mark to push the lead to 26-14 with a failed two-point attempt.
Princeton went 86 yards in just under four minutes to tack on, capped by a 12-yard scoring run that made it 33-14.
Childs pulled Brown back within 12 with his second rushing score of the game from one yard out with 13:11 remaining, making it 33-21.
The Tigers turned an interception in Brown territory into seven with a two-yard run up the middle to make it 40-21 with 9:14 remaining.

Up next, Brown will hit the road for two straight Ivy League games, starting next Saturday at Cornell. Kickoff in Ithaca is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
