10/11/2025 8:32:00 PM | Women's Tennis
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown women's tennis team dazzled on the third day of the ITA Regionals, keeping their momentum strong.
In singles action, Ali Maguy stormed past Holy Cross' Phoebe Devine 6-3, 6-3 before battling hard against Cornell's Victoria Zhao, falling in a spirited three-set match 7(7)-6(2), 3-6, 6-1. Similarly, Hannah Shen powered through Boston University's Ellie Gyuro 6-2, 6-0, then faced No. 2 Orly Ogilvy from Yale, putting up a strong fight before falling 6-0, 6-4. Abigail Lee fought valiantly in her clash against No. 9 Seren Agar from Boston College, narrowly losing 6-4 in the decider, while Anne Yang challenged No. 9 Sage Loudon from Cornell but came up short 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, Dani Ben-Abraham and Abigail Lee beat No. 9 Sarah Liu/Liliana Malinowski (Fairfield) 8-5. Ali Maguy and Anne Moody won a tiebreaker against Yale's No. 3 Shyla Aggarwal / Rachel Lee 8-7(1).
In consolation singles, Dani Ben-Abraham lost to BC's Isabella Camacho 7-5, 4-6, 10-3. Sari Woo advanced past Harvard's Kate Kim 7-5, 4-6, 10-4.
"In today's matches, we took another step in increasing our competitiveness and ability to problem solve when we are in tough situations against quality opponents," said Broadbent Family Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "Hannah played nearly flawless two sets in her round of 32 win. She has been working hard on adding more variety in her game and I was impressed by her willingness to implement her new skills in match play. Even though her second match didn't go her way, Hannah showed a lot of heart, competing until the bitter end, coming back from a 0-6, 1-5 deficit to being 1 point away from evening the score to 5-5."
"Ali played close to 5 hours of tennis today, competing in two singles and one doubles match. Ali continues to increase her level of gritty competitiveness. She is fearless on the court, completely committed to her aggressive game style. This type of courageous mindset and commitment to improvement always pays off long-term," Schmidhauser added. "Both our doubles teams' problem-solved well in their matches and were able to move into the next round."
