
Men’s Basketball Falls at Yale in Ivy League Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Brown men's basketball team (8-6, 0-1) fell 79-58 in its Ivy League opener at Yale (8-6, 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
In a physical opening half, the two sides traded baskets as Yale held a lead as large as nine in the opening 20 minutes. Brown was able to cut the lead down to six on an Alexander Lesburt Jr. three-pointer, Yale took a 34-28 lead into the second half. Landon Lewis paced the Bears in the first half with eight points and six rebounds.
A Kino Lilly Jr. three-pointer from the logo cut the Yale lead to 51-48 with 10:37 remaining in the second half, that was the closest Brown would get as Yale went on to close the game on a 28-10 run to earn the victory. Yale led as much as 23 points in the second half.
The Bulldogs outscored the Bears 46-26 in the paint and earned a 40-33 advantage on the boards. As a team, the Bears shot 41.5 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent from three-point range, Brown also had 14 turnovers.
The Bears held the advantage in fast break points 15-8.
Lyndel Erold led all Bears with 15 points on 5-8 shooting from the field, Landon Lewis also scored in double figures with 14 points and eight rebounds. Kino Lilly Jr. was the third Bear to score in double figures as he finished with 13.
LIlly Jr. moved into second place on the Brown men's basketball all-time scoring list, he currently sits at 1,671 for his career.
Brown will return home to welcome Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 18, tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Fans can purchase tickets here.
