PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears welcomed the 16th-ranked UConn Huskies to Goldberger Family Field on Thursday, dropping the non-conference matchup by a 4-0 final score.
Prior to the game Brown Athletics along with Brown Field Hockey recognized a Brown and UConn legend, Carolan Norris. Norris was a four-year letter winner across field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse before becoming a vital part of the administrative side. Beyond college, she spent nearly 40 years working in the Brown Athletic Department, most notably as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator.
Both the Bears and Huskies went scoreless through the first quarter with chances at either side of the field.
Imogen Govan had an early shot on UConn goalie Natalie Mckenna, leading to a Bruno penalty corner.
Less than three minutes into the second quarter, UConn Husky Sophie Perschk tallied the first goal of the game, Lila Browne got the assist.
After a back-and-forth stretch, Madi Herb added another Husky goal with six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Perschk recorded her second goal of the game with just over five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, she was assisted by Milou Heuker.
Brown had three penalty corner opportunities late in the fourth quarter but were unable to beat Mckenna to cut into the UConn lead.
With less than one minute to go in regulation, Perschk recorded her third goal. She was assisted by Juana Garcia Sol Simone.
