Field Hockey Hosts #16 UConn Thursday, Opens Ivy Play at Yale Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-2, 0-0 Ivy League) return to action on Thursday at home against the 16th-ranked UConn Huskies (4-0, 0-0 Big East) before traveling to Yale (2-0, 0-0 Ivy League) on Sunday to open Ivy League conference play.
Thursday's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with Sunday's start set for 1 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend looking for its first win of the season after consecutive one-goal losses to open the season. The Bears most recently fell to Boston University in a shootout.
- Katie McCallum and Jule Rothenberger lead the Bears with three points apiece with three other Bears at two points through two games. Lucy Adams leads the team with two assists.
- Kylee Del Monte has started both games in goal and enters Thursday with a 2.22 goals against average and .688 save percentage.
- UConn jumped into the NFHCA National rankings this week and enter Thursday with a perfect 4-0 mark. The Huskies took wins over St. Joseph's, New Hampshire, Cornell, and Rutgers.
- UConn's offense averages 4.64 goals per game to rank third in the nation. Juul Sauer leads the team with five goals with Sophia Ugo (4 goals) and Sol Simone (3 goals) just behind. 10 different Huskies have recorded a point through four games.
- Defensively, UConn allows 2.00 goals per game with goalkeeper Natalie McKenna holding a 1.99 goals against average and .652 save percentage in four starts.
- Thursday marks the first meeting between Brown and UConn in 22 years, last meeting in the 2002 season.
- The Huskies own the series edge, 19-2-1, with Brown's last win coming in 2001.
- Prior to Thursday's match, Brown Athletics and Brown Field Hockey will recognize Carolan Norris, a Brown and UConn legend.
- A four-year letterwinner in field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse for the Huskies, Norris was a key member of the 1981 UConn Field Hockey team that won the National Championship and captained the 1982 team that finished as the NCAA Tournament runner-up.
- At Brown, Norris spent more than 38 years as a vital member of the Athletic Department, most recently serving as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator.
- Yale enters the weekend after opening the 2024 season with a 6-1 win over Lehigh and a 2-1 overtime win over Drexel.
- Ellie Barlow and Poppy Beales each have two goals to lead the Bulldogs with four others each recording one goal. Barlow leads the Bulldogs with two assists.
- Alexa Pitts has started both games in goal and holds a 0.94 goals against average and .833 save percentage. Her save percentage ranks 12th in the NCAA through the early part of the season.
- Sunday marks the 50th meeting between Brown and Yale in a series dating back to 1973.
- Yale holds the series advantage, 27-18-4, along with a six-game winning streak.
- The last two meetings have gone to overtime.
