Coed and Women's Sailing Posts Strong Performances in Opening Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's and coed sailing opened the new season with several strong finishes across the region.
Brown compiled four top-five finishes in four events, including a first-place team finish at the Harry Anderson Jr. Regatta.
At the Bears Invitational, Brown boats notched second-, fifth-, sixth-, 11th-, and 14th-place finishes. Kaitlyn Hamilton and Marin Soderberg finished second to a Roger Williams boat with Grace Ivancich and Violet Martin finishing fifth.
At Yale's Harry Anderson Jr. Regatta, Brown's boats combined for a first-place finish among an 18-boat field over the two-day Regatta.
Brown's team of Guthrie Braun, Camren Spriggs, Katherine McNamara, and Charles Gish finished third among nine boats at the Pine Trophy to earn qualification into the New England Match Race Championship.
In women's racing, Brown boats finished sixth and ninth at the Toni Duestch '58 Trophy at MIT.
Brown is back in action this weekend at several events with the coed squad competing at the Dave Perry Match Race Clinic (Sept. 14), the Hatch Brown Trophy (Sept. 14), the NEISA Open Monotype Championship (Sept. 14-15), and the Yale Invitational (Sept. 15).
On the women's side, the Bears will race in the Regis Trophy (Sept. 14) and the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship (Sept. 14-15).
