NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Brown's Ryan Oshinskie has been recognized for his outstanding summer on the mound. The rising sophomore has been named the New England Collegiate Baseball League's Joe Nathan Top Reliever of the Year after a strong summer with the Bristol Blues.
Spending the summer pitching in his home state, the Fairfield, Connecticut product was one of the most relied upon bullpen arms for the Blues, ranking third on the team with 15 appearances and holding a 0.92 ERA with 28 strikeouts and just 10 hits allowed over 19.2 innings pitched (including postseason). He was selected to play in the league's all-star game and helped Bristol earn the No. 3 seed in the NECBL playoffs. In the postseason, he made one appearance, tossing 3.1 shutout innings.
Earlier in the season, he struck out three batters over 2.0 perfect innings of relief to pick up the win over Danbury. He also struck out the side in a perfect inning of relief on July 18 against the Valley Blue Sox.
