Women's Crew Advances Varsity 8 to Grand Final

BETHEL, Ohio – The Brown Bears advanced the Varsity 8 to the Grand Final and sent the Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 crews to the Petite Final in the second day of racing at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Harsha Lake on Saturday.
"Another day of strong racing at the NCAA," said head coach John Murphy. "While we did not get all the results we have worked for, we did get some and we have another opportunity again tomorrow. We are ready and looking forward to the challenge."
Brown's Varsity 8 took third in the semifinal to earn a spot in Sunday's Grand Final with a time of 6:18.740. The Bears raced tightly with Stanford (6:14.840), Princeton (6:17.191), and Cal (6:20.264).
The Grand Final is set for 9:28 a.m. tomorrow with the Bears taking on Princeton, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
The Second Varsity 8 crossed the line with a time of 6:37.500 to finish fifth in the A/B semifinal. The crews from Washington (6:28.157), Yale (6:30.774), and Princeton (6:31.557) advanced to the Grand Final.
The Bears will race in the Petite Final tomorrow at 9:04 a.m. against Cal, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn, and Virginia.
The Varsity 4 took fifth in the final semifinal of the day to earn a spot in tomorrow's Petite Final. Bruno posted a time of 7:21.875 to trail behind Stanford (7:08.746), Princeton (7:10.962), Tennessee (7:11.841), and Michigan (7:16.113).
The Bears will race in tomorrow's Petite Final at 8:48 a.m. against Cal, Michigan, Penn, Rutgers, and Syracuse.
