Women's Crew Finishes Sixth at NCAA Championship

BETHEL, Ohio – The Brown Bears took three top-10 finishes and ultimately finished sixth in the team point standings on the final day of the 2024 NCAA Championships on Sunday on Harsha Lake.
Brown's Varsity 8 captured a fifth-place finish in the Grand Final, the program's 15th Grand Final appearance and 15th top-five finish since 1997.
"Today was the final day of the NCAA Championship and every member of our team was all in," said head coach John Murphy. "They stepped up and they gave it their very best. It was a total team effort. The racing was tight but no one backed down.
"At this time, we want to acknowledge our exceptional senior class of 2024 for the work ethic and leadership that they have brought to Brown Crew for the past four years. They have truly made a difference. We also want to thank the administrators, alums, friends and parents who help to keep this program strong."
The Varsity 4 clocked a time of 7:16.342 to finish second in the Petite Final and eighth overall. The Bears held off third-place Cal (7:17.558) to finish just behind first-place Michigan (7:13.916).
The V4 picked up 15 team points with the eighth-place finish.
The Second Varsity 8 took second in the Petite Final and eighth overall with a time of 6:33.107. The Bears maintained pace with first-place Michigan (6:31.327) and charged ahead of Virginia (6:34.089) and Penn (6:35.449) in the final sprint to secure the second-place finish.
The 2V8 picked up 30 team points with the eighth-place finish.
The Varsity 8 closed the Championship with a fifth-place finish in the Grand Final after crossing the line in 6:18.030. Texas won the Grand Final and team title with a time of 6:09.920.
The Bruno V8 picked up 54 team points with the fifth-place finish.
