PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown University men's tennis team returned home on Sunday to continue their Ivy League play where they lost 7-0 to #12 Harvard.
The battle for the doubles point was close, but Harvard was able to secure the point after winning at the first and third line with a score of 6-4.
"I am pleased with our team's performance in this match. Our players have consistently met our expectations throughout the year, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to improvement that is truly commendable. As the season progresses, they continue to elevate their game, showcasing remarkable progress. Our doubles play continues to be a strong point. We did an excellent job in all three doubles matches to open up play and put ourselves in a position to win the doubles point. However, there's room for improvement in seizing crucial moments towards the end of sets to capitalize on our opportunities fully," Head Coach Alex Kasarov said.
The Bears fought through the singles matches, but were unable to come out on top. Harvard collected all six points from singles.
"In singles, we competed well in the second sets and had opportunities to close out sets and force a deciding third set at a few different spots. I credit Harvard; their athletes did an excellent job staying poised under pressure to finish off sets and matches," Kasarov said.
"We are determined to maintain our momentum with another week of focused practice as we prepare for upcoming matches against Princeton and Penn."
