Mascone Sets Program Record for Points in a Season

PHILADELPHIA – Mia Mascone finished with five goals and six assists to set a new standard for points in a season as the senior shattered Lauren Becker's record, held since 1986, with 88 points in a year (the record was 78). The 11 points tied for a career-best in a game, set earlier this season in the victory over Bryant.
Brown (9-5, 2-4 Ivy) fell to No. 14 Penn (11-3, 4-2 Ivy) 19-13 on Saturday at Franklin Field. Annie Burton added three goals and an assist and Greta Criqui registered two goals.

The Bears host Cornell on Senior Day on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emmie Lau won the opening draw and immediately found Mascone, who scored 17 seconds into regulation. The goal gave Mascone 78 points for the season, tying Becker (1986) for most in program history.
- Moments later, Burton scored off Beth Anderson's pass to make it 2-0 Bears.
- Penn scored three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead, but a Tara Reilly save led to a Brown goal by Criqui to knot things at 3 with 5:19 remaining in the first.
- Mascone assisted in the goal to set the new single-season standard.
- Mascone followed with a goal off Burton's assist to regain the lead for the Bears, 4-3.
- The Quakers scored to tie the contest at 4-4 with 2:19 left in the first.
- Mascone found Burton for AB's second goal of the quarter with six seconds remaining to put Brown back in front 5-4 after one.
- Mascone recorded two goals and two assists in the opening stanza, and Burton collected two goals and an assist.
- Penn scored three consecutive goals to begin the second to take a 7-5 lead.
- With 10:24 remaining in the second, Maddie Joyce collected her first goal of the contest off Mascone's assist to cut the Quaker lead to one.
- Mascone's hat trick with 7:52 left to play erased the Penn cushion, but the Quakers regained the lead moments later with back-to-back goals to make it 9-7.
- Niki Miles posted her fifth goal of the half to extend the Quaker lead to three with 5:50 left to play.
- Mia ended the Penn run with her fourth goal of the first half, and the Bears went into the half trailing 10-8.
- Leah Caputo found the net to condense the Quaker cushion to one a minute into the third quarter.
- Penn settled down and scored consecutive goals to extend the edge to three.
- Burton and Mascone teamed for another goal and Mascone found the net again with 2:57 to go in the third to make it 14-11 (Penn).
- In the fourth, Criqui and Mascone connected on Greta's 40th goal of the season, tied for ninth most in single season history.
- Penn extended its lead and defeated the Bears 19-13 on Saturday afternoon.
- Moments later, Mascone found a driving Sydney Rathjen for Rathjen's first goal of the game and Mascone's 11th point of the contest. It tied Mascone's career-high, set earlier this year in the victory over Bryant.
