Women’s Lacrosse Sets Program Record for Points in a Game in 24-5 Victory at Stetson

DeLand, Fla. – A dominating start to the week featured 40 points for the No. 23 ranked Bears (8-2) as Brown defeated Stetson (3-6), 24-5, on Monday evening at the Athletic Training Center.
The 39 points on Monday set a program record, previously 36 (set in 1986 and 2011), while the 16 assists are also a new standard at Brown (the record was previously 14 in 1985 and 1986).
With her nine draw controls tonight, Emmie Lau set a program mark and now has 237 in her Brown career. The record was previously 229 (Grace Healy '14).
Annie Burton finished with two goals and five assists, Sydney Rathjen tallied four goals and two assists, Mia Mascone added three goals and an assist, Julia Ford, Greta Criqui and Beth Anderson scored three times apiece, Maddie Joyce collected a goal and two assists, and Kiki Tormey registered two assists. Leah Caputo finished with a goal and an assist.
Jackie Mason, Ruby Sliwkowski, Mariama Camara, and Claire Mahoney each posted a goal and Alyssa Levy, Lydia Bongiorno and Lau each recorded an assist.
Mahoney improved to 7-1 in goal with a save tonight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears went wire to wire with a 12-0 lead after one. It was the most goals scored in a quarter since at least 2014
(NOTE: Stats missing games from before 2014).
The lead was extended to 16-0 before Stetson got on the board and the Bears led 17-2 at the half. A balanced offensive attack featured four goals and two assists by Rathjen, three goals by Criqui and Ford, two goals apiece for Mascone and Anderson, a goal and two assists for Joyce, a goal and five assists by Burton and a goal and assist by Caputo.
A four-goal third, capped by a goalie goal by Mahoney in the closing seconds made it 21-4 Bears.
Brown tacked on four more in the fourth and closed the game with a last-second goal by Camara to defeat the Hatters 24-5.
