Women's Water Polo Falls to Michigan, Defeats Saint Francis

PRINCETON, N.J. – #T19 Brown women's water polo first fell to No. 8 Michigan, 12-7, before bouncing back to defeat Saint Francis, 13-6, at the Conference Crossover hosted by Princeton University on Saturday.
No. T19 Brown (9-8, 1-2 CWPA)
No. 8 Michigan (13-6, 2-0 CWPA)
Saint Francis (1-16, 1-3 CWPA)
No. 8 Michigan defeated No. T19 Brown 12-7
Forty-five into the matchup against the Wolverines, the Bears took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Sierra Martin assisted by Cleo Washer. Back-to-back goals put Michigan in front 2-1 before Ella Palmer's goal erased the Wolverine lead. Michigan scored with 1:34 remaining in the first quarter for a 3-2 edge.
Michigan extended its lead to 6-3 at the half and rode a five-goal lead to a 12-7 win over Brown.
Martin finished with three goals.

The Bears took a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sophie Golub scored two of those goals. Brown opened the second with a goal and Saint Francis answered to make it a 5-2 match. The Bears then scored the next two goals, but Saint Francis cut the Bears' lead to 7-4 at halftime.
Saint Francis scored first to open the second half, but Brown responded by closing the match on a 6-1 run to seal the win.

The Bears take on Bucknell and No. 10 Princeton tomorrow. The matchup against the Tigers will be streamed on ESPN+.
