Kimo Ferrari Sets Program Record with 10 Three-Pointers as Men’s Basketball Clinches Ivy Madness Spot
3/2/2024 10:11:00 PM | Men's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three words. This is March.
For the first time in program history, the Brown University Men's Basketball program is headed to Ivy Madness. The Bears will be the No. 4 seed and play on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. against the No. 1 seed live on ESPNU. The winner advances to the championship on Sunday, March 17 at noon on ESPN2 against the winner of the No. 2 vs No. 3 game and the victor of March 17's contest earns the auto bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears (11-17) defeated Dartmouth (5-21, 1-12 Ivy) 89-67 for a fifth consecutive Ivy League win (the first time since 2020) to improve to 7-6 in conference play.
An additional two words. Kimo Ferrari.
After being recognized as one of three seniors before tip-off, Ferrari exploded for 39 points on 14-of-16 shooting and set a program record for three-pointers made with 10. The 39 points are the most since Sean McGonagill posted 39 vs. Columbia (Feb. 4) and tied for the sixth most in a single game. It also tied for the most points scored in the Pizzitola Sports Center by a Brown student-athlete.
Ferrari took over in his final home contest in a Brown uniform, with the second-best field goal percentage in a game (Jim Turner went 14-of-15 on Feb. 22, 1986).
Kino Lilly Jr. was all over, collecting 13 points, a career-high eight assists, and seven steals. The seven steals tied for second-most in a game and the most since Adrian Williams (Nov. 19, 2008).
FIRST HALF
The trio of seniors earned a start and highlighted a 13-4 start to the game with 14:18 remaining in the first.
The Bears commanded most of the first en route to a 35-23 lead with 2:39 to go before a Dartmouth run cut the Brown lead to five.
However, the torrid start by Ferrari extended the lead back to double figures, 41-30, at the half as Kimo posted 17 points on five triples.
His 17 were one shy of his career-high, set in last week's win at Columbia.
Kino Lilly Jr. posted four assists and four steals in the first.
NEXT UP
The regular season concludes at Yale on Saturday at noon. The matchup could be a preview of the Ivy Madness matchup as the Bulldogs are tied for first in the Ivy headed into the final week of regular season action.
