Three Records Fall as Klinginsmith, Lukinac Win Gold

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Day three of the 2024 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships featured two gold medal performances for the Bears as Lily Klinginsmith and Morgan Lukinac won their respective events inside the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
Klinginsmith earned the top mark in the 100 butterfly and Lukinac set the standard in the 200 free.
Both finishes set program records, along with the 400 medley relay team of Jenna Reznicek, Catherine Yu, Klinginsmith and Lukinac. Reznicek earned silver in the 100 backstroke, and the medley team placed third.
The Bears concluded day three in fourth place with 657 points.
FINALS
Klinginsmith's 52.53 mark in the 100 yard butterfly A final hit the NCAA 'B' standard and shattered the program record as the sophomore won the event by .02 seconds. Bilgin placed eighth in the finals.
The previous Brown record was held by Sage Matsushima (53.22) in 2020.
Lukinac followed in the 200 free with a gold medal of her own, also hitting the NCAA 'B' standard with a finish of 1:45.49, also a program record.
Reznicek was second in the 100 backstroke final, finishing in 52.94, hitting the NCAA 'B' standard.
The 400 medley relay team of Reznicek, Yu, Klinginsmith and Lukinac finished third at 3:37.61, setting a program best.
Gillian Tu placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke finale in A, and Yu finished second in B.
PRELIMS
Lukinac set the top mark in the 200 yard free, clocking in at 1:47.26. Kelly Dolce and Anna Podurgiel qualified for the B finals and Maria Iorini advanced to the C finale.
In the backstroke, Reznicek placed second at 53.14.
Zehra Bilgin (53.40) and Klinginsmith (53.56) qualified for the A finals in the 100 butterfly, and Reznicek's (54.26) was good for the B finals.
Gillian Tu's 1:01.19 in the 100 breaststroke prelims was sixth-fastest to move to Friday evening. Yu, Amie Barrow and Ellie Brault moved on to the B finals in the same event.
Sumner Chmielewski (4:18.29) and Lizzy Washburn (4:22.16) finished in the top 15 in the 400 IM prelims to advance to the B finals.
Isabella George's 329.30 performance in the 3 meter diving was fourth best, tying the program record she set in November this season.
