Sidorova Collects Career-High in Five-Set Loss to Princeton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball (7-13, 4-6 Ivy) fell in a tough five-set match to Princeton (10-10, 8-2 Ivy), 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 15-25, 15-9, on Sunday afternoon. Mariia Sirovoa posted a career-high 26 kills in the loss.
Sidorova led all players with 26 kills, the most by a Bear since Sabrina Stillwell in 2018. It is the sixth-straight match that Sidorova has reached double-figure kills. Sidorova also had 11 digs for a double-double.
Kayla Griebl reached double-figure kills with 14 and Hannah Flannery added eight. Both Sophia Wolfson and Beau Vanderlaan had seven kills.
Juila Kakkis picked up a career-high 53 assists, the most since Sept. 22, 2023 when Cierra Jenkins had 55.
Jessie Golden led Brown's defense with 24 digs and Wolfson had a team-high five blocks.
After dropping the first two sets, Brown bounced back in the third. With the set tied at 13, Brown pushed its lead to 18-14 following a kill by Sidorova and ace from Wolfson. Kills by Kakkis and Wolfson gave the Bears the set win.
Tied 9-9, Brown scored seven-straight points that featured two kills and an ace from Sidorova to go up 16-9. Kills by Greibl and Sidorova put the Bears up 20-12 and the Bears used two late kills from Flannery to force a fifth set.
Brown fell into an early hole in the fifth set, going down 10-4. Back-to-back kills by Sidorova pulled Brown within three. After two points by Princeton, Brown got back within three after kills by Vanderlaan and Sidorova but the Bears were not able to get closer, falling in the final set.
UP NEXT
Brown will be home for matches against Harvard and Dartmouth next Friday and Saturday to close out the home schedule for the Bears.
