Women's Fencing Sweeps NFCs with 11 Team Wins

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown fencing team swept the two-day NFC Championships at Olney-Margolies Athletic Center to capture the team title. First-year Ibla Vadasz picked up NFC Rookie of the Year honors and six Bears earned NFC All-Star recognition.
The Bears won all 11 rounds with a combined score of 209-88.
In the foil, Grace Li compiled an impressive 21-3 record over the two-day Championship for First Team All-Star honors. Apoorva Talwalkar also earned First Team All-Star honors after posting a 20-4 record.
Closing out the foil category were Jessie Chen (15-3), who earned Second Team honors, and Neve O'Neil (6-9).
In the Sabre, Alexandra Tzou led the Bears with a 16-2 overall record and First Team All-Star recognition. Alyssa Sun followed with a 15-5 performance for a spot on the Second Team. Vadasz also posted a 15-5 mark for Second Team and Rookie of the Year recognition.
Rounding out the sabre category were Anika Sinha (8-2) and Soph Bililies (8-5).
In the epee, first-years Ashley Luo and Kira Nguyen both finished with 14-3 records while Amy Mao finished the weekend with an 11-5 record.
