Volleyball Clinches Spot in Ivy League Tournament With Win Over Columbia

NEW YORK - Brown volleyball clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament with a 3-0 win at Columbia to end the regular season.
Mariia Sidorova led Brown with 20 kills, hitting .385. Sophia Wolfson was second on the team with nine kills and hit a blistering .615. Julia Kakkis guided Brown's offense with 41 assists.
On defense, Jessie Golden and Victoria Vo each had 13 digs to lead the way. Wolfson led Brown with four blocks and Kakkis and Gabby Derrick each had three.
Things were tight in the first set with Columbia pulling within two at 22-20. Brown got a kill by Derrick and a service ace from Kayla Griebl before a Columbia error gave Brown the set win at 25-21.
Brown looked in control early in set two up 12-5 after a kill by Griebl but Columbia climbed back into the set and used a 5-0 run to take a 21-20 lead. Brown earned set point at 24-23 but the Lions fought off the first point. Back-to-back kills by Wolfson gave Brown the set win, 26-24.
Columbia started set three with a 10-5 leadand pushed to to six at 15-9. After Brown tfought back to tie the set at 20 with a Sidorova kill, Columbia picked up the next point making it 21-20. Kills by Sidorova and Elizabeth Sessa put Brown up 23-21 and a Lions' service error gave Brown match point. Two points later, a kill by Sidorova gave Brown the match with a 25-23 set win.

Brown will be the No. 4 see in the Ivy League Tournament and will play the No. 1 seed Princeton on Friday (Nov. 22) at 4 p.m. in Princeton.
