Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Brown Bears competed in the 50th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. The event was the largest it had ever been, consisting of 150 men's teams and 164 women's teams across all divisions.
The Bears men's team finished 36th of 44 in the Men's Gold 8K, scoring 998 points.
Senior Justin Hickey led the way finishing in 158th with a time of 25:07.8. Sophomore Sebastian Margetts (201st/25:24.7) and junior John Farrell (215th/25:30.6) trailed Hickey. Tommy Gaffey (253rd/25:45.3) and Matthew Doherty (255th/25:46.3) rounded out the scoring for Brown.
Jason Markopoulos (287th/26:07.4), Sam Colton (328th/26:36.6), Luke Bodden (348th/27:09.6) and John Ryan (368th/28:38.2) were the ladder finishers for the Bears.
The Bears women's team found even more success in Bethlehem. They finished 12th of 42 teams in the Women's Gold 6K, scoring 383 points.
Sophomore Olivia Fraga led the way for the Bears, placing 28th with a time of 20:45.0. Junior Nimrit Ahuja (66th/21:07.6) and first-year Morgan Boonshaft (77th/21:13.2) trailed closely behind Fraga. Maxine Montoya (109th/21:28.3) and Emily Mrakovcic (116th/21:32.3) rounded out the top five for the Bears.
Isolde McManus (117th/21:32.5), Scarlet Stimson (148th/21:47.3) and Julia Schriefer (266th/22:40.5) were the final three finishers for the Bears.
The Bears will return to the northeast with the New England XC Championships next Saturday in Boston, Mass.
