Cross Country Races at CCSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The Brown Bears Cross Country teams competed at the CCSU Mini Meet hosted by Central Connecticut State University.
The women's 3K varsity race was only run by four Bears competitors, therefore not scoring as a team. The men's 5K varsity race resulted in an 8th place finish among 10 teams, scoring 216 points.
For the women' side, junior Olivia Bergin led the way, placing 36th with a time of 10:33.34. Sara Perez followed that with a 44th place finish and a time of 10:41.32. Juliana Gonzalez (52nd/10:51.79) and Katrina Sortland (71st/11:18.33) rounded out the finishers for the women.
For the men's side, first-year Nicholas Strayer led the way with a 36th place finish and a time of 15:29.21. Brendan Leahey (48th/15:41.73) and Matthew Wing (57th/15:52.04) were the next two finishers. Kit Jackson (64th/15:57.46) and Henry Wood (65th/15:57.47) were the final point finishers for the Bears men's team.
Both the men and women will compete next week in the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
