SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown comes into the weekend with a 4-11 overall record and 1-4 mark in Ivy League play. The Bears split two matches last weekend, sweeping Columbia and falling to Cornell.
- Jessie Golden continues to shine for the Bears on defense. Golden was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Ivy last season after leading the league and finishing fourth in the NCAA with 5.65 digs per set. Her total was 1.31 digs per set higher than second-place in the league. This season, Golden is in second place in the Ivy League with 4.00 digs per set
- Brown has made quick work of both Dartmouth and Harvard in recent history. The Bears have swept Dartmouth in each of its last three matches and four of the last five matches against Harvard have been 3-0 wins for the Bears.
- Brown has not played a match longer than three sets since losing in four sets to New Hampshire on Sept. 21. The streak of six-straight matches ending in three sets is the longest for Brown since an eight-match streak in 2021. Brown was 6-2 during that stretch that included 18-straight set wins to close out the Ivy League schedule.
- First year Julia Kakkis has stepped in in the absence of Ella Park and has finished the last six matches with at least 22 assists. Kakkis is now averaging 6.68 assists per set for the Bears. Kakkis' seven matches this season with at least 20 assists is the most by a Brown freshmen since Park had seven matches in her first year in 2022.
- Another 20-assist match for Kakkis would give her the most by a freshman at Brown since Kristin Sellers in 2018, who had 20 matches of 20 or more assists.
- Brown first year middle blocker Sophia Wolfson has started to shine for the Bears. Wolfson is is now averaging 1.64 kills per set and leads the team with 16 service aces. She is second on the team with 37 total blocks at 0.84 per set.
- Wolfson has finished with a career-high 10 kills in each of the last two matches and hit a career-high .692 against Columbia. Her .692 hitting percentage was the highest of any Bear this season with at least 10 attempts in a match.
- Dartmouth since at 9-6 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Big Green are coming off a four-set loss at Princeton. Before that, Dartmouth had swept both Columbia and Penn.
- The Big Green lead the Ivy League with 15.20 digs per set and are holding opponents to just 0.175 hitting, second in the league and 56th in the NCAA.
- Kauany Gutz leads the offense with 3.33 kills per set and three different players are averaging over 3.00 assists per set for Dartmouth.
- Emma Armstrong leads the Ivy League with 4.26 digs per set.
- Harvard is 8-6 over and 3-2 in Ivy play. The Crimson dropped matches to Princeton and Penn last weekend after starting Ivy play 3-0.
- Brynne Faltinsky leads Harvard's offense with 3.52 kills per set and three other players are averaging over 2.00 kills per set.
- Ryleigh Patterson (1.15 blocks per set) and Bennett Trubey (1.12 blocks per set) lead a Harvard defense that is averaging 2.27 blocks per set.
