PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Brown Bears (3-1-1) took care of business against the Norwich Cadets (1-0-1) winning by a score of 100-7.
Brown featured mostly underclassmen in this non-divisional showdown.
Sophomore Sophie Dornstein was dominant in the first half, scoring three tries and helping the Bears to a 39-0 lead at half.
Brown was playing 'bend don't break' defense for much of the first half, but quickly counter attacking and scoring at will. The Bears played fast and wore down Norwich's front line early and often.
In the second half, sophomore Lily Nowak stole the show, scoring three times. 10 Bears scored in this match as Brown rolled from start to finish.
Norwich scored a try late, but Brown went on to win 100-7.
"It was a great showing for our younger players and we saw two veterans returning from injury who've been out since last year," said Rosalind Chou, the Kathleen Flores Women's Rugby Head Coach. "Emelia Ohnmacht led with a commanding performance at flyhalf and both scrumhalves, Yona Allouche and Tarn Reilly really kept the pace up on attack. Sophie Dornstein was outstanding on the wing, Sadie Wilson and Priscilla Maalouf stood out in the back row, and Chayse Barksdale put a solid performance up in the front row."
