Volleyball Hosts Columbia and Cornell for Ivy League Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball is back on the court for Ivy League play with two matches this weekend, playing host to Columbia and Cornell.
The match against Columbia will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, and first serve against Cornell will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. The match against Cornell will be Brown's Dig Pink match to raise awareness for breast cancer research. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown welcomes Columbia and Cornell to the Pizzitola Sports Center for Ivy League matches this weekend. The Bears will be looking to right the ship after dropping their first three Ivy contests this season.
- Jessie Golden was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Ivy last season after leading the league and finishing fourth in the NCAA with 5.65 digs per set. Her total was 1.31 digs per set higher than second-place in the league. This season, Golden is in second place in the Ivy League with 3.92 digs per set.
- Brown's 3-10 start to the season is the worst start for the Bears since 2016 when Brown started the season 3-11.
- Brown has not lost to Columbia since Oct. 6 ,2018, having won nine-straight games against the Lions. The Bears have lost just one set to Columbia in the last five meetings.
- The Bears have won six-straight matches against Cornell, last losing on Nov. 9, 2019. During the win streak, Brown and the Big Red have played two three-set matches, two four-set matches and two five-set matches, all won by the Bears.
- Columbia is 3-9 on the season and 0-3 in Ivy League play with losses to Cornell, Dartmouth and Harvard.
- As an offense, Columbia is hitting just .152 on the season and allowing opponents to hit .236.
- Hailee Watts is leading the team with 2.68 kills per set and is one of three Lions to be averaging over 2.00 kills per set.
- Cornell is 8-4 on the season and 2-1 in Ivy League play with two five-set wins coming against Columbia and Dartmouth and a four-set loss to Dartmouth.
- The Big Red at 15th in the nation and lead the Ivy League with 2.75 blocks per set. Cornell is also holding opponents to .159 hitting, 23rd in the NCAA.
- Camryn Carlo leads the Ivy League and is fifth in the NCAA with 1.54 blocks per set.
- Mackenzie Parsons is 29th in the NCAA and second in the Ivy League with a .400 hitting percentage.
